iPad Family has reviewed quite a few Education Apps for children, and many of them are useful for learning to Speak or for children participating in casual or structured Speech therapy. It's challenging to learn to speak properly. I went to speech therapy lessons for years to say my SSS sounds more clearly. It helped, but was always challenging practicing with a room full of people. Now, thanks to iPad, children can learn and practice their speech in the comfort of their own environment. Utilising some (or all) of the features from these Apps can make a difference to your child's speaking ability but remember they'll need your encouragement and support to do this effectively. Really! Saying several thousand ssssssss sounds on my own at school during one hour of speech-pathology was not as productive as it could have been had I been encouraged and supported out of speech-therapy time.
Each of these iPad Apps are high quality and are Apps we recommend. We only put our favourite (10 out of 10) apps on iPadFamily.com.au - Our most recent additions are listed first.
While this list is not comprehensive (as in it doesn't include all the Speech Apps available on the Apps Store) we've selected the Apps that are most suitable to learning to speak as well as those which encourage a positive learning experience. Of course, not all apps will be suitable for every child, so please evaluate the App and read our review to see if you feel it is suitable. We are in dialogue with speech pathologists and App Developers at the moment and will continue to update this list as we receive suggestions from professionals and evaluate other Apps recommended by developers. All of these Apps are top of their class, and are well worth considering. We only review the best Apps, and we've got a list here for you:
