iPad Education - from Old School to Home School
I've heard a few people say the iPad can take away a child's ability to use a pencil.
Now, as that might be true if you never give them a pencil to hold ever again, it's highly unlikely to occur.
If you use a stylus (a pencil/pen shaped device for use on an iPad) it's the SAME as using a pencil on paper. Every variation in the shake of your stylus appears, just as pencil on paper. Another reason the iPad is so wonderful - penmanship! ~ iPadDad
Whether your children go to school or are home-schooled like ours you will find the Apple iPad a GREAT TOOL for teaching children (and adults) almost everything! It is light enough for even our one-year-old to manage by herself, and we've found that she takes for granted the 'touch-ability' of the Apple iPad OS (operating system).

We consider "Education" to be a broader term than just 'school work', for instance the ability to COOK is an important life skill that everyone should know how to do WELL.
For instance, the App Cookie Doodle is a great way for kids to learn about mixing ingredients to get a delicious end result... do YOU know how many ingredients it takes to make a cookie??
My kids do. Not because we MADE them learn, but because they played... and learned as they played on Cookie Doodle! (And because we make real-life cookies too!)
