Review: Write to Read

Excellent book creator App for book writing, story telling, diary and memoirs. It's easy to use and versatile, perfect for toddlers upwards!

Features of Write to Read:

  • Encourages your child's imagination and ability to recount an experience or tell a story!
  • Your child can be empowered to write their own book or story and the app is designed to help your child learn to read and write.
  • Use photos and images from your file or take your own pictures to personalise your story.
  • Reinforce your letter learning as the key board speaks each letter aloud and shows upper and lower case as well as vowels.
  • Younger children can record their stories if they are not confident to write them, which is wonderful!
This Book Creator is the best for children we have seen so far.  With many additional bonus features there are many benefits to using this app with your child.

Start by creating a New Book.  You will see a space to insert your photograph or take a new one.

Then you will see the space for writing.  There is a 'small owl' and a 'large owl' icon. The small owl is the space where your child types or records their sentence.  You then have a space to write, beside the large owl.  You can either re-write the same sentence allowing you to correct spelling and grammar or tell your own story depending on your objective.

This is valuable if you are creating a book with a younger child who has not yet learned how to spell or write as you can assist them as 'part of the App'.

The keyboard shows upper and lower case letters, vowels and speaks the letter, as well as allowing you to record instead of typing.
This makes this app suitable for very young ones and is perfect for relationship building with your child.

Your book automatically gets saved into your library, which is a bonus.  From there you can read it, edit it, print it, share it, email it or delete it.

Adding pages and content is easy and your older child can really make a book totally on your own...prepare to be surprised at how wonderful they are!

I enjoyed making a book about my children and my son, aged 9, was really inspired by his first creation...he says he thinks the possibilities are 'unlimited'. It is also valuable for recording 'diary memories'.

The included guide suggests ways to use the App and engage your child and 'Good Advice for Parents'.

10 out of 10!

Age Group:

I suggest you get together with your child for the first time you use this app. Older children, around 8 years, will be able to make books on their own but they will be inspired by your interest in their creations! Younger child require adult input to have this App really work so ensure you are in the right frame of frame and have adequate time laid aside to use this App and you will create excellent educational and bonding time with your child.
