Review: Swords and Soldiers HD
Battle game with hours of fun, an all-time family favourite!
View on the App Store: Swords and Soldiers HD - Chillingo Ltd
Features of Swords and Soldiers HD:
Swords and Soldiers is a full on yah-yah game but in a very tongue in cheek style with a funny creative storyline!
Yes, we're aware that we said we didn't approve of violent games, but the way the Soldiers interact with each other is unrealistic and seems detached from reality. Focusing mostly on fun, even the 'battle weapons' are light-hearted such as ninja monkeys and other such creations! There's nothing graphic, the characters are colourful and quite harmless looking.
Swords and Soldiers is a side scrolling platform strategy game with 30 missions of increasing difficulty. You are commanding the Viking, Chinese and Aztec armies against the 'enemies' of the quest. You can play in game mode (which has a defined ending) or in Skirmish mode which allows you to keep on battling until you have reached your natural end!
This game takes quick strategic thinking as you have a continual stream of 'enemies' and you need to use different skills to win! With the ability to get 'powers' and to use those powers to protect your soldiers (or attack theirs), and the need to keep your workers safe to protect the cash flow, this game has all you need to give your child's brain a bit of a workout. (Remember, it IS a fighting game.)
You can play Swords & Soldiers in two player mode which splits the iPad screen in two and you face each other across the iPad, each with their own view of the battle (air-hockey style.)
Another great Chillingo app! Not for vegetarian vegans with a mental meat intolerance! The vikings are not vegos, for sure!
10 out of 10!
There's no nice way to say that we'd prefer it to be a vegetarian game (really, why can't the Vikings be eating tofu... they had tofu back then... right? Despite the dietary differences, this is a very fun game!
Maybe add a new level with new opponents... the Down Under vegetarians!
